Hi Kathy,
The dances are held at Willamette Christian Church. The church has a Saturday night service, so is not available for other functions that night. Our plan, at least at this point, is to keep the dances on Fridays.

I realize that the 789 Jam Dance and Costume Party is on Friday, October 23. Most Athey students won’t be able to attend because of the big event going on at our school. It is called Athey Idol. It is a sold out show every year featuring 32 acts, all of which are students from our school performing. Many people will be disappointed about this conflict because I know how much people were talking about the last Jam and how much fun they had. I just thought I would throw that out there. Maybe you could hold it the Friday before?
We’re sorry the next 789 JAM is the same night as Athey Idol. We do our best not to schedule against other events, and look at each of the middle school and high school calendars before we set a date. (BTW – there wasn’t anything listed on the Athey school calendar, and still isn’t.) Part of the reason we set October 23 as the date is that there is no school the prior two Fridays, which means lots of families will be out of town, and October 30 is a home football game against Lakeridge. October through December are such busy months, we’re unable to schedule 789 JAM on a conflict-free Friday. We’ll do our best to schedule on the Fridays that work best for all of the schools as a whole, and hope to see you at the next event.
Hi, I am looking for the costume guidelines for parents of my daughter’s friends who plan to attend with her. While WE know the guidelines (based on our faith), not all families may understand…just a thought.
I love your heart and ministry for our kids!
Bless you all for all you do!
Thanks so much for asking! We’re requesting that costumes not include weapons, nor be overly scaring or revealing. If the costume is appropriate to wear to school, it will be fine to wear tonight.
Any chance the dances would be held on a Saturday instead of Friday?
